How to Add Variation to Your Makeup with Color

Playing with Colors is a Great Way to Add Variation to Your Makeup

Photoshoots are a great way to express yourself and celebrate your beauty. Not only do photos capture the way you look, but they also carry the memories of certain times. However, making sure you look camera-ready is very important.

When it comes to makeup for photos it differs from the makeup you would do for events. Cameras pick up different things than our eyes do. So, having the right makeup for photo sessions can make your photos look even better.

When having a photo shoot you want to make the most out of your appointment. However, if you use the same makeup and props in every photo, they can all turn out too similar.

That’s why changing your makeup throughout the photoshoot can make a significant difference.

Team Polished is a company that offers hair and makeup services that help make people feel special for their big events.

We offer various beauty packages, so you can find the one that fits your needs for the day.

Our team offers touch-ups and makeup changes to adjust and perfect your makeup during the photoshoot. This also works great for special events!

For example, changing the lipstick color can change the way your whole makeup looks. Playing with colors in this way works well if you are changing outfits during the event, or you just want to bring a breath of fresh air to your look.

Tweaking your makeup look in this way also works amazingly well for photos, as it allows you to get the most out of them.

By introducing small makeup changes, your photos can have a whole new vibe to them.

During this shoot, our Polished MUA team changed the lipstick color to match the flower she had in hand. This resulted in photos that exude different energy.

We started with a nude lipstick to draw attention to the eyes.

Next, bright and bold red lipstick gave the photos a classic and sexy feel complimenting the red rose.

The focus was to create photos that radiate natural beauty.

To complete the photoshoot, Team Polished applied a mauve lip color. This pinky nude color, when matched with the right props gives the pictures a demure look.

Changing your makeup during an event or a photoshoot is a great way to experiment with different looks. It can also be a great way to make a transition from one another part of your event.

Polished can guide you through the process and help you make the most of it.

Braids in Different Ways

Diane loves braids so we did a different styled braid for each photo session.

For the outdoor maternity session we decided to go with an up-do, because who are we kidding? This is Texas and it is H-O-T so an up-do to keep Diane’s hair off of her neck was the perfect way to go.

For the sweet newborn and 1 year photo sessions we played with some fun boho braids, one of our favorite styles to create!

Diane’s boho braid for her newborn photos was whimsical and flowy, she didn’t mind having hair on her neck since these photos were indoors.

For her 1 year family photo session, we went a little more playful with a tighter braid, and how cute are those mini pigtails! This style is perfect for chasing around your little one.

Natural Lovely Makeup

Our goal as your makeup artist is to create a look that makes you feel confident and fabulous, and we totally hit that goal with Diane!

She wanted to feel like herself, like the fun and loving mommy she is, so we kept her makeup natural and neutral.

We accentuated those beautiful eyes and kept her lips soft with a different nude-pink for each photo session.

Taylor's Maternity Photos

I know everyone’s pregnancy is different, some can be tough and others seem to be a breeze but one thing is for sure, all mom’s and expecting mama’s deserve to look and feel beautiful!

So why not capture that special memory so you can look back and remember that beautiful time of your life?

There are lot’s of places you can take your maternity pictures but Galveston, TX is definitely one of our team’s favorite spots! If the beach isn’t your thing, there are lots of neat areas hidden in plain sight that don’t give you the Texas beach vibe.

So let’s talk hair and makeup, on the beach. First thing that comes to mind? It’s windy!

Have you ever gone to the beach with your hair looking cute and then about 5 minutes later its up in a topknot because you can’t stand it blowing all over your face?

Yea, I know, that wind can really screw up that super cute down style, so we made sure to pin the hair back out of Taylor and Brenda’s face.

Want to know my top tip for wearing makeup at the beach? Don’t wear gloss and your hair down, talk about a bad combination!

Honestly, I wouldn’t wear gloss at all to the beach, just thinking about that makes me think of sand sticking to my lips, gross.

Brenda’s Maternity Photo Session

Brenda's Maternity Photos

Here’s Brenda! We have worked with her numerous times over the years and I can already tell you, she is going to be a super-mom!

I love that we get the chance to share different life events with our clients, bridal photos, birthday shoots and now her maternity photos!

Brenda loves makeup so we went with a more bold look to fit her personal style. Our team members Julia and Faby absolutely killed this look!

Julia incorporated eye liner on the upper and lower lash line to intensify her eyes and added a toned down mauve lip color to balance out Brenda’s features.

Can I just say, Brenda can really rock eyeliner!

Faby created a beachy half-up half-down hairstyle, with twists to keep Brenda’s hair from flying in the wind, then a flower crown to top it off.

Flower crowns are one of our favorite hair accessories but here it’s a double whamy!

Super cute and it helps keep her hair out of her face, what more could you ask for on the beach?
